Damn close?
It was 1985.
It was the time when RC-1 stood for the crowning glory of model flying skills and the only source of information was catalogs and specialist magazines memorized every month …
This year I had the joyful task of writing a report about the RC-1 World Championships in Flevohof, Holland, for the magazine “Modellflug International”.
For the first time, I was able to experience all of my heroes up close. Many of them still stand for model flying at the highest level with an infinite wealth of experience in building, adjusting and flying, just in the true modellflying.
I am delighted that I am still in close contact with some of them today …
THE AURORA
and it was there that I saw her for the first time, mostly surrounded by crowds of people, and it was love at first sight:
by the Japanese Giichi Naruke in the legendary Japanese quality, which is still the benchmark in F3A today.
Wenn auch die Zeit weiterging (siehe Bild W die Aurora im Vergleich zu meinen aktuellen F3A Wettbewerbsmodellen Alchemy pro) und einige tolle Modelle kamen und gingen; irgendwie war mein Jugendtraum von einer Aurora in mir verwurzelt.
Schaut was daraus geworden ist…..
Bewusst wurde auf einen zeitgemäßen Elektroantrieb gesetzt; aufgrund der Bodenfreiheit angetrieben durch eine Vierblattprop.
Und das geht verdammt gut; die Kraft und Flugzeit sind mindestens ebenbürdig mit dem im Original eingebauten YS 60 !
P.s. im Rahmen der Aurora-Euphorie haben Bekannte entscheidende Aurora-Teile (siehe Bild X) in nochmals gesteigerter Kato-Qualität zwischenzeitlich neu aufgelegt. (Kabinenhaube, Belly-Pan aus Carbon im Autoklaven gefertigt, (extrem leicht und steif!), sehr sauber gefräste Rippensätze aus ausgesuchtem Balsa etc ..)
