The engineer Herbert Skornia, Fabrikation und Vertrieb, Hirschau /Opf., Hauptstr. 50, developed a low-cost single-channel control system in the mid-1950s. The Versietron handheld transmitter HS 100 was the first industrially manufactured transmitter in the Federal Republic of Germany to be authorised by the Federal Post Office with the approval number IV D-F-512-109-56. The dimensions of the transmitter were kept small so that it could be easily carried anywhere. The transmitter is designed for impulse operation (single-channel control). It is controlled with the pushbutton. The aerial used in the first series was a 4-section plug-in aerial 2 metres long.
The first transmitters were opened from below to insert the battery pack.
The price at the time was sensational: transmitter 40 DM; receiver 36 DM
In 1955, a Graupner Standard 10 cost 209.50 DM, the Standard 20 85.30 DM and the receiver 72.70 DM.
Today, these devices are sought-after collector’s items.
