Kraft Systems, Inc., 2466 Seaman Avenue, South El Monte, California 91733, was founded by Phil Kraft (18 April 1926 – 9 April 2006) in 1963. Phil Kraft had already made a name for himself through various publications on home-built receivers and model constructions. His reed control systems (tip/tip systems) were sold as kits or finished products by the companies ACE and Ecktronik. However, he is said to have been dissatisfied with the quality of the products and therefore took production into his own hands. The first Kraft remote control systems were reed systems with 1, 4, 6, 10 and 12 channels.
From 1964, Kraft built the first truly functioning proportional system, the Kraft KP-4. In terms of precision and reliability, it was far superior to other products on the market and Kraft quickly became the market leader in America and the world’s largest manufacturer of remote control systems in the 1970s.
