The company Frei – Elektronik, Albert Frei, Stationsstr. 37, CH-8603 Hegnau, Switzerland, came onto the market around 1969 with its own system called DIGIFLY.
The system was supplied in a 5-channel and a 7-channel version. Remarkable were the open stick units of the transmitter with very long control sticks and the receivers completely moulded in synthetic resin. In the first version, the transmitters were anodised red (5-channel) or blue (7-channel). Later, the transmitter housings were made of plastic-coated aluminium. Orbit mechanics were used as servos.
The systems were mainly used in Switzerland.
Bruno Giezendanner became world champion in the RC1 aerobatics class with a DIGIFLY in both 1969 and 1971.
